F.A.C.T. (Falsely Accused Carers and Teachers) is a UK wide voluntary organisation. It exists partly to support carers, teachers and other professionals falsely accused or wrongly convicted of abuse, and partly to lobby for change in investigative practice and in the criminal justice system.

F.A.C.T. gains its support from academics, criminal defence lawyers, justice groups, and from an increasing number of the press, politicians, and the general public.

If you have been falsely accused of abusing others, or know someone who has, this site provides useful information on what we do, who we are, as well as useful advice and access to information and resources.

Our membership consists mainly of carers and teachers (and their families) but also a wide range of people who look after or support other peoples children or help with their education. This includes:-

We must make it clear that there is no place in F.A.C.T. for people who are factually guilty of neglecting, harming or abusing children, young people or adults.  Please do not waste our time by approaching us if you are guilty.

We also wish to make it clear that membership will also be refused if you have been found in possession of child pornography including on any computer for which you are responsible.

We also regret that we are unable to provide advice or support to individuals who have been accused by family members, close friends, eighbours or strangers  of neglecting, harming, or abusing themselves, or others. If you have been falsely accused by such people you may find the following web sites useful:-

F.A.C.T. accepts that some children and some vulnerable or dependent adults are on occasions abused by their carers, or by teachers or other professionals. Abuse is always wrong and deserves to be punished.

Whilst accepting that abuse by carers, teachers and other professionals does sometimes occur, it is our belief that it does not occur on the scale that is claimed. We believe that the vast majority of complaints of  that are made against carers and teachers have been exaggerated, and that significant numbers of them have been induced, fabricated, or are entirely false.

It is a sobering thought but if you work, or have worked with children, young people or with vulnerable or dependent adults you stand a very good chance of being falsely accused of abuse - sometime during your lifetime. You have a responsibility to your self, your family, and your profession to do something about this NOW
